Interior Comparison

The 2024 Elantra and the 2024 Civic are evenly matched when it comes to interior volume. Both offer around 99 cubic feet of cabin space. This means that five adults can easily travel within these cars’ cabins. Furthermore, these vehicles offer excellent head and legroom for rear-seat occupants. Buyers of the 2024 Elantra also get a power tilt-and-slide sunroof for some trims, a feature also offered by the 2024 Civic. Furthermore, the 2024 Elantra’s seats are covered in high-grade cloth, leather, or a combination of the two, depending on the trim choice.

Then, the 2024 Elantra comes with features such as automatic dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver seat for higher trims. Higher trims also get a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster as standard. The 2024 Civic has similar features, too. But it doesn’t offer standard second-row dual USB-C charging ports, which are present in every 2024 Elantra. Higher trims of the 2024 Elantra also offer a proximity key and a 64-color ambient LED lighting system to uplift the interior’s ambiance at night.

These two compact cars have Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® compatibility for all trims. They also come with Bluetooth® for hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming. Higher trims of the 2024 Elantra also offer dynamic voice recognition, a wireless phone charging pad, and an 8-speaker Bose® premium sound system.

The 2024 Elantra and the 2024 Civic have equally sized trunks at 14 cubic feet each. Both cars also have split-folding rear seat backs for more capacity when needed. While the 2024 Civic has an electronic trunk release, the 2024 Elantra adds to this feature with a hands-free smart trunk release for higher trims. You also get a center console storage bin, plus a spacious glovebox in either compact car.

Performance Comparison

Hyundai offers two 4-cylinder engines for the 2024 Elantra range. Most trims receive a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated unit with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a Smartstream intelligent variable transmission and front-wheel drive. Choosing the sporty N-Line trim brings a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This 201-hp engine can make up to 195 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

The 2024 Honda Civic also comes with two 4-cylinder engines. Lower trims have a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated unit with 158 horsepower. Higher trims receive a 1.5-liter turbocharged unit with 180 horsepower. A CVT gearbox and front-wheel drive are standard.

The 2024 Elantra is also available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms. The 2024 Civic isn’t available as a hybrid.

Safety Features Comparison

Every 2024 Elantra comes with a comprehensive suite of standard safety features. All trims come with forward collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection. Then, there’s blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, and a driver attention warning system. Lane departure warning and lane-keeping assistance are standard, as is an intelligent speed limit assist system. Higher trims gain a smart cruise control system with stop-go functionality, plus a highway driving assist feature.

Buyers can also get a surround-view camera system and front plus rear parking distance warning. New for 2024 is a haptic pulse system that sends pulses through the steering wheel to alert the driver when some of these systems detect a hazard. Meanwhile, the 2024 Civic has many of these features as part of its Honda Sensing® suite.
