When I began searching for a new car, I relied heavily on online review sites to help me decide where to shop. Initially, Gettel Hyundai was not at the top of my list. My search began in Fort Myers, but I am now very glad that I did not overlook Gettel Hyundai of Charlotte County. I found that just because someone else reports a bad experience, it doesn't mean that you will as people are more likely to post negative than they are positive experiences. My visit to Gettel Hyundai turned out to be the best buying experience I have ever had. The salesman, Matt Boothe, stood out for his professionalism. He did not play any of the typical "salesman games." After I explained the features I wanted in a vehicle, Matt showed me a beautiful Santa Fe. While the vehicle was priced higher than I had planned to spend, Matt assured me that they could work with me on the price. I then met with Adan Hernandez, the General Sales Manager. He understood that my main concern was the out-the-door price, rather than monthly payments. We negotiated back and forth and ultimately reached an agreement that worked for both of us. The final steps of the process involved working with Joey Soto, the Finance Manager. Joey was pleasant and easy to work with, making the closing process smooth and straightforward. In short, they knowingly sold (or attempted to sell) the vehicle to someone else without disclosing the issue. If that buyer didn’t take it on the highway during a test drive, they’d be completely unaware of the risk they were driving off with. This kind of dishonesty is exactly why people hate buying vehicles (used). It’s not just disappointing — it’s unethical. Selling a vehicle while knowingly hiding a major mechanical issue says a lot about their priorities. Clearly, profit comes before customer safety or integrity. Buyers beware. Ask lots of questions. Get your own mechanic involved. And don’t expect honesty here.

So if they display a price in a sheet at the service counter ($99.95) , that includes an oil change and tire rotation, why would they not honor that price and charge me $135 ? Oh yeah, service agent said I need a coupon for that price. Do you see anything displayed on the form about needing a coupon ?

I was treated with the utmost respect and truly felt cared for by my sales representative Karl Brolund, who has answered all of my questions and helped me understand the new technology of my new car, which by the way I LOVE! I definitely recommend visiting Gettel if you are in search of a new vehicle.

Great for a quick oil change and tire rotation

I was in from Pennsylvania and my air conditioning went out shortly after we arrived. Gettel was able to fit me in immediately and give me a rental car while mine was being fixed. They knew my timeline with leaving to drive home and completed the work asap. Everyone is dealt with was extremely friendly, respectful and efficient. I highly recommend them to locals and tourists.

In sales Mark was A+.He was thorough, but very patient. He took his time while explaining all the intricacies of the electronics, and answered all my questions without hesitation or attitude. In the same token Joey from Finance explained my options and through the large touch screen display ( I as a more chronologically gifted individual ) was able to easily see what my choices were. All in all one of the most pleasant experiences I have had in purchasing a new vehicle. 👍👍

I bought a car with an extended warranty in July 2024. My car was totalled in March 2025. I have been calling since then to get a rebate on my warranty that is refundable for 2 more years. Not one person has called me back after so many messages. The sales department doesn't care after you buy your car. Its very disappointing from a buyers prospective.

The sales process felt like a throwback to old-school, high-pressure tactics—fast talking, unclear numbers, and no upfront information about taxes, fees, interest rates, or lease terms. The salesperson didn’t have accurate information and was clearly not supported by management. I was offered a deal that didn’t start until the next day, pitched as some kind of “exclusive” opportunity. It quickly became obvious that the team was using canned responses and hard-close techniques rather than listening to my needs or being transparent. Despite claiming to be the #1 EV dealership in Florida, they had little understanding of how the $7,500 federal EV tax credit actually works. They didn’t apply it at the point of sale, nor could anyone clearly explain how it could benefit me as a buyer. In fact, their finance team seemed largely untrained and unprofessional—lots of noise, no clarity. Overall, the experience felt more like a scripted hustle than a real car-buying conversation. It’s unfortunate because I was a serious, qualified buyer looking for the right EV—but this was not the place for it.
